York University Rover Team Reports UPDATE The York team took second in the competition; Magma Team from Poland placed first. Here is a CBC article: http://www.cbc.ca/news/technology/story/2011/06/05/york-university-mars-rover.html Greetings from Utah! The Rover Team has arrived safely in Hanksville not far from the Mars Desert Research Station and we're all busy preparing the rover for the competition. I've compiled a list of sources for CASI members to look at and follow us if they so choose. I hope everything is well in Toronto! We are doing online journal entries on facebook, daily photo updates and twitter updates about the competition. Facebook: facebook.com/YorkURoverTeam Twitter: twitter.com/YURoverTeam The contact people are Shailja Sahani and Jordan Bailey. Unfortunately there is very little cell reception out here but we will be available by email most of the day, we finally have a stable internet connection set up! Our temporary local number is 1 (720) 412 3487 Some background on the rover: This is our fourth year competing in the University Rover Challenge at the Mars Desert Research Station in Hanksville, UT. The competition is put on by the Mars Society every year. We have come in (respectively) third, first and second place over the past three years and we're planning on retaking first place this year.
