Aircraft Piston Engines – A Retrospective

The CASI Ottawa Branch held a well-attended dinner meeting on June 21 in the new Riverview Building on the campus of Carleton University. This proved to be an excellent location, the food was great and the program that followed the meal was informative and inspiring.

Carleton Professor Emeritus and long-standing CASI member Herb Saravanamuttoo clearly had put a lot of effort into his after-dinner talk entitled “Aircraft Piston Engines – A Retrospective”. The many comments and questions testified to the high level of audience interest.

CASI appreciates and recognizes the dedication of its members. Before Herb’s talk, CASI Executive Director Geoff Languedoc presented framed certificates to Peter Maddox (Associate Fellow) and Dave Muir (Above and Beyond Award).

Dave first joined CASI as a student in 1977, was instrumental in the launch of the Propulsion Section in the mid-1990s, had stints as Chair if the Section and also of the Ottawa Branch, and served on the Executive of the Institute with a term as President from 2012-2014. Dave became a Fellow of CASI in 1998.
