Membership Grades and Advancement
Members are required to submit an application for advancement in grade on the appropriate form available for download below. The completed documentation package should be e-mailed or sent by post to CASI Headquarters to the attention of Member Services. An updated curriculum vitae or similar summary of the candidate’s background should be attached to the complete form. The application package should highlight the candidate’s qualifications for advancement in grade.
Nomination for Advancement from Junior Member to Associate Member or Member
A Member shall have acquired a professional standing in the practice of the art, science or engineering relating to aeronautics, astronautics or associated technologies. Graduation from a university or other institution recognized by the Council is the usual first step in establishing this standing. Alternatively, recognized standing gained through professional-quality work experience of not less than 6 years duration may be acceptable.
- Applications for advancement in grade from Junior Member or Associate Member to Member shall include the names of two references familiar with the academic qualifications and/or work of the applicant. One reference shall be a member of the Institute.
Nomination for Advancement to Associate Fellow
An Associate Fellow shall have been engaged for not less than ten years in the practice of research, engineering, manufacturing, planning, administration, maintenance, operations or other work relating to aeronautics, astronautics, associated technologies and their applications, and shall have been in charge of important work and made significant contributions in his or her field of endeavor.
Two members of the Institute at member level or higher, one of whom must be at the level of Associate Fellow, Fellow, Honourary Fellow or Councillor, may nominate for advancement in grade to Associate Fellow a member who, in their opinion, meets the requirement above, provided that the permission of the nominee has been obtained.
Nomination for Advancement to Fellow
A Fellow shall have been an Associate Fellow for a minimum of three years, shall have held a position of distinction and made notable and valuable contributions to his or her field of endeavor.
Admission to the grade of Fellow shall be by election, held annually by the Council from nominations put forward by any four of the members of Council, Fellows and Honourary Fellows of the Institute. The names of Fellows so elected shall be announced at the Annual General Meeting.
Transfer from the grade of Associate Fellow to the grade of Fellow is by peer nomination only and direct applications shall not be submitted. Please use the form below.
