Branches

CASI caters to the important aspect of personal contact between like-minded professionals and other with related interests by establishing and encouraging branches in various geographic locations around Canada.

CASI has branches in cities across Canada that cater to their regional clientele. In addition, Ottawa has a branch devoted entirely to remote sensing. CASI also has student branches on a number of campuses across the country.

All branches have similar structures for governance. Each has an elected Executive Committee, which consists of at least a Chair, Vice-Chair, and past-Chair. Executive members are responsible for the promotion of CASI and the various special interest group embraced by CASI within their region. Any voting member in good standing with and interest in service may be elected to any one of the positions on the branch executive committee. One member of each branch is also elected to serve on the CASI Council, to represent the appropriate regional interest in the general governance of CASI. One Councillor appointed by Council for that purpose represents all student branches as a whole. Traditionally this Councillor has been the Chair of the Student Committee.
