Appel de propositions : Bourse de recherche “Living Planet 2018” de l’ESA

 L’Agence spatiale européenne (ESA) a publié un Appel de propositions pour financer un maximum de 10 bourses de recherche dans le cadre du programme « Living Planet 2018 ».

L’objectif principal de cette initiative est d’appuyer les jeunes chercheurs possédant un doctorat et désirant poursuivre leur carrière scientifique en Observation de la Terre et en sciences du système Terre. Les bourses auront une valeur maximale de 99 K € sur deux ans, en cofinancement d’un projet de recherche d’un institut dans un des pays membres éligibles par l’ESA.

Les propositions de recherche doivent correspondre à l’un de ces thèmes de recherche :

  • Perfectionner les méthodes et les techniques innovantes: Pour promouvoir l’utilisation scientifique et les applications des missions Sentinel, Earth Explorers ou des données en archives de l’ESA
  • Faire avancer les sciences du système Terre: Pour optimiser l’impact des missions de ESA au niveau des découvertes et des avancées en sciences du système Terre.

Les propositions, et les documents qui s’y rattachent doivent être envoyés par courriel à l’adresse EOScience@esa.int au plus tard le 22 février 2018. Une description plus détaillée des activités acceptables et des conditions qui s’y rattachent est présentée plus bas dans ce message.

Les Canadiens sont éligibles à cet Appel de propositions grâce à la participation du Canada au programme EOEP « Earth Observation Envelope Program » de l’ESA.

Call for Research Proposals: ESA’s Living Planet Fellowship 2018

With this call ESA plans to support up to 10 Post-Doctoral researchers (supported by ESA with a maximum amount of 99k Euro for 2-years under a co-funding scheme) to carry out a research project at a Host Institution in an eligible ESA Member State.

The main objective of this initiative is to support young researchers who have a doctoral degree and who would like to initiate a scientific career in the context of Earth Observation and Earth system science.

Candidate researchers shall submit research proposals responding to one of following Research Areas:

  • Advancing Novel Methods and Techniques: Targeted research projects aimed at developing innovative methods, novel algorithms and new EO products and datasets expanding the scientific use of the Sentinel missions, the Earth Explorers or the ESA long-term data archives into new scientific areas and application domains.
  • Advancing Earth System Science: Cutting-edge scientific activities aimed at maximizing the scientific impact of ESA and European missions in terms of new discoveries and advances in Earth system science addressing the new challenges of the ESA EO Science Strategy.

Proposal and all supporting documents must be sent by e-mail to: EOScience@esa.int by no later than 22 February 2018 (the Closing Date).

Canadians are eligible to respond to this Call for Membership by virtue of Canada’s participation in ESA’s Earth Observation Envelope Program.

The Living Planet Fellowship 2018 Projects will be funded under the 5th period of ESA?s Earth Observation Envelope Programme (EOEP-5). EOEP-5 is an optional programme of the Agency, and participation is restricted to host institutions which have their registered office in one of the following Participating States: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Slovenia and Canada.

Proposal and all supporting documents must be sent by e-mail to: EOScience@esa.int by no later than 22 February 2018 (the Closing Date).

Any questions relating to this Call must be sent, by e-mail to EOScience@esa.int, not later than two (2) weeks before the Closing Date (15 February 2018).
