Canadian Priorites - Global Opportunities

CASI ASTRO'12 will take place April 24-26, 2012 at the Fairmont Château Frontenac Hotel in beautiful Québec City! In addition to a rich and varied technical program, the Organizing Committee will ensure that participants can take full advantage of the wonderful opportunities for tours and social events that Québec City offers so that accompanying persons enjoy the visit as much as conference delegates will.

The Canadian Aeronautics and Space Institute has championed the interests of aerospace professionals and enthusiasts for 57 years. Held once every two years, CASI ASTRO conferences bring together Canadian and international space leaders for several days of presentations, networking and development of collaboration opportunities. Senior Awards 2012 - Call for Nominations

Each year - with YOUR help - CASI identifies and recognizes outstanding Canadian achievement in aeronautics, space and remote sensing. If you know someone, or a team of individuals, who may qualify for one of our Senior Awards, we invite you to submit a nomination.

Your nomination should respond to the criteria for the Award you have in mind. The information provided should highlight relevant aspects of the career and accomplishments of the candidate(s). Note: the strengh of a nomination increases with the number and stature of people endorsing it.

You will find a complete list of the Awards and Scholarships and their criteria, lists of past recipients, and nomination forms on our website. More information available here...
The deadline for nominations: Monday, December 5th, 2011.


CASI President's Tour - beginning January 18th, 2012

The CASI President this year is Ron Holdway, Vice President of Government Relations for COM DEV, a Canadian space company headquartered in Waterloo, Ontario.

Canada became the world’s third space-faring nation in 1962 with the launch of Alouette1. Over the 50 intervening years Canada has distinguished itself by its many achievements in space.
In his 2012 President’s Tour presentation, Ron looks back upon the government vision that first took Canada into space, explains the strategic role that space infrastructure plays in the delivery of our public policy and in our international relations, and reviews the many ways that space assets touch the daily lives of every Canadian. Celebrating 100 Years of Powered Flight in Canada


NATIONAL AVIATION DAY - Canada Aviation and Space Museum, Ottawa  
Canada's National Aviation Day commemorates the anniversary of Canada's first powered flight which took place on February 23rd in 1909. In addition to the inauguration of the new wing facilities, the Canada Aviation and Space Museum will also host a Career Day with many of the leading Canadian aviation and aerospace organizations, showcasing the wide range of career opportunities to be found in these sectors. The event will also be highlighting the various fields of studies which relate to aviation and space available at some of Canada's leading post-secondary institutions.
